About us

We are a montessori adolescent class, one of the few in Bengaluru. For our curriculum, we are required to start an enterprise, and we decided to start a handicraft one. Hence, StarCrafts was born!

What is StarCrafts?

StarCrafts is a handicraft enterprise run by the All Stars Adolescent class of PEP School V2.

What is a Montessori adolescent class and why do you need to start a business for it?

The Montessori Adolescent Program is an educational program designed by Dr. Maria Montessori for ages 11-15. The core principles are to prepare adolescents for real life while still retaining Montessori ideals. This is done typically on a farm, where the students learn in the morning, work at the farm in the evening, cook for each other, and sell the produce in the village market. However, we live in Bengaluru, where farms are rather scarce. Due to this, we instead study at our school and run an enterprise - StarCrafts!

What does StarCrafts sell?

As of now, StarCrafts sells handicraft products in crochet. We will soon launch weaving and macramé products as well.

How much of StarCrafts is student-run?

All of it.
No, seriously.
Our Sales and Marketing team consists of only students, along with our Operations team, and of course, our Product team. The only non-student facets of StarCrafts are consultation, and borrowing of digital devices.

How long does each product take to make?

Our crochet products can be between 1-4 hours, depending on the product scale. Our woven products typically take 8-10 hours of work. Our macramé products can take anywhere between 45 minutes to 5 hours, depending on the product.

How can I get updates on StarCrafts?

You can sign up for our Substack and get free updates on our enterprise, along with being the first to know about new offers, discounts, products, etc.

Is it related to the video game?

NO.
StarCrafts is in no way affiliated with StarCraft© or Blizzard Entertainment©. We are a student-run handicraft company. Not a military science-fiction video game.

Crochet

Hook. Loop. Push. Pull. Repeat in various manners. One could say this is the basics of crochet. But these actions can create so much. With one twist of a hook, a chain can become a strap. With one loop, a mesh of yarn can become an octopus. With one stich, a cylinder of thread becomes a bee. And with one pull, it all comes undone.
Our crocheters are skilled. They have made balls of yarn into bees, octopi, beanies, scrunchies, bottle holders, and coasters. With every new loop, they continue to create so much out of just a hook and thread.

Weaving

Every weave in our scarves was done with hand. Every thread checked to ensure quality. StarCrafts has a long weaving process, from setting up the loom to tying loose threads. But it is ALL done by hand, and it is checked by our Operations team. Our weavers take time to deliver the products, but they do it by themselves. They don’t get an adult or a machine, instead using their own time and effort for their work. This is a core principle and the foundation of StarCrafts - we do it ourselves.

Our products

We are selling crochet products to parents who come for the Adolescent Family Day on August 6th, 2025. Orders will be expanded to a wider range of customers soon. Weaving and macramé products are not available at this time.
